Tips to get started to a healthier NEW YOU
Tips to get you started:
While we still believe you must eat the regular foods you love, we have a few tips to guide you. Most people have gained weight slowly over the years as a result of portion distortion. A few minor tweaks and you will be on your way.
Start your day with a glass of water (ideally add aloe for cleansing if possible). You will have a shake for 2 meals in the day and 1 colourful meal.
1. Snacking is non-negotiable. Try to snack throughout the day to keep your blood sugar level steady. See the
sensible snacking sheet for ideas.
2. Do not go hungry.
3. Cut out all sugars and starches like bread, potatoes, rice, pasta and cereals.
4. Only low GI fruits like green apples, strawberries, blueberries, Kiwi fruit, melon, oranges and naartjies.
5. Low GI veggies and salads, peppers, mushrooms, cucumber, cauliflower,
beans, squash, carrots, baby marrows, sweet potatoes, and butternut.
6. Avoid High Gl like corn, peas and potatoes
7. Drink one litter of water for every 30kg PER DAY. When you are hungry
have 2 glasses of water, it is probably thirst.
8. Fruit juice is high in sugar. If adding to your shakes please use only 50-80ml's.
9. Start with any form of exercise; try to do at least 30min 3 to 5 times per week.
10. Remove the chicken skin, and cut the fat from meat before cooking.
11. Spices are acceptable - Ina Parman's spice is a good choice (no MSG's)
12. Have olive oil and balsamic or lemon juice instead of creamy dressings, on salads
13. Watch the sauces and dressings!
14. Protein is ideal for a balanced, healthy diet. It helped us to lose weight in a healthy, sustainable way.
15. Put your meal plan on your fridge and a copy at work.
16. Get organized - buy your snacks and foods.
Make sure you drink enough water. Water speeds up weight loss, flushes toxins and suppresses hunger.
